At last week’s meeting, Denyse Sandul shared the tragic story of her son, Miles Keaney, who lived with a mental illness and died of a drug overdose 3 years ago. Denyse began the memorial known as Crosses for Change, with the placement of the first cross in the fall of 2020, in front of the fire station on Paris St. where her son’s body was found. The idea resonated with others and there are now 270 crosses prominently located at the corner of Paris and Brady streets. Denyse also founded Sudbury Outreach Support (SOS), which makes donated food and clothes available to those in need in our community. Donations can be dropped off every Sunday morning at the Sudbury Marketplace (across from the arena downtown). |
