District Team Learning Seminar
From DGN Sandi
Assistant Governor, Louise Bergeron and I had the pleasure of participating in the annual District Team Learning Seminar earlier this month in North Bay. What an amazing District Team we have! The purpose of the weekend is to refocus our efforts on the next four months of the Rotary year and to bring together the executive and committee chairs who will carry the torch in 2024-2025. District Governor Elect, Stephen Wilkinson, shared his goals with an emphasis on Membership, Foundation and Public Image. DGE Stephen also outlined the Rotary Action Plan with its 4 priorities:  Impact, Reach, Engage and Adapt.

PELS/Rotary Weekend
Mark your calendars! The annual President-Elect Learning Seminar and Rotary Weekend will be held April 12-14, 2024 at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Centre in North Bay.
As you know, President-Elect Mick Weaver will take over the reins of our Club on July 1st, along with 46,000 other Presidents-elect around the world. PELS is a mandatory learning session to help Mick prepare for a successful Rotary year.

The Rotary Weekend has something for everyone and will get you energized for the year ahead. You will learn about new trends in Rotary and great ways to engage club members in service, fundraising, membership and more!  Registration will open soon, so plan to join us for inspiration, learning, and fellowship with Rotarians from across the District.

We Missed You Last Week
Two weeks ago, the Sunrisers welcomed David McNeil, President and Chief Executive Officer at Health Sciences North (HSN). A Sudbury native, David most recently served as the President of Brant Community Healthcare System. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Nursing Executive and Senior Vice President Patient Services and Digital Transformation at HSN and was instrumental in helping shape the hospital over the course of his career.

HSN is a regional services provider and an important asset in Northern Ontario. David highlighted both the successes and challenges at HSN, including its world class Cancer Centre, achieving the highest accreditation standards from Accreditation Canada, its financial impact to the local economy as the number one employer and occupancy and wait time challenges related to access to Long-Term Care. David noted that some of the specialized services offered by HSN are unique to Ontario, and even Canada.
