Last week's recap
Here is a recap of our August 26th meeting:

At our last meeting, Alessandro Constantini - Co-Founder and Managing Artistic Director of YES Theatre was our guest speaker.

Alessandro spoke to us about an exciting new initiative YES Theatre is working on.
They are planning to open a state of the art outdoor theatre in the city's downtown core at 131 Durham Street.
The project is called the Refettorio and would accommodate approximately 195 patrons in the summer and 130-150 people in the off season.
Their mission is to train and retain artists in the community and the north.
The location will help in the revitalization of the downtown.  They will offer small casts and an intimate setting.  Construction is planned to being in the Fall of 2021

A Message from The Rotary Foundation:

We're excited to announce that The Rotary Foundation's peer-to-peer fundraising platform, Raise for Rotary, is now accepting goals and donations in Canadian dollars (CAD). This tool launched in July 2020 and allows people to easily create fundraisers that support The Rotary Foundation. Over the past year, individuals have used Raise for Rotary to create more than 800 fundraisers, which have collected a total of more than $400,000.

Some benefits of the platform include:

Making it easy to use and share
Setting up a fundraiser with Raise for Rotary is simple and fast. You can support specific Rotary causes, such as the areas of focus, fighting polio, or disaster response. And your fundraiser is easy to share with your friends and family — especially on social media.

Giving donors recognition credit
Anyone who gives through Raise for Rotary using the email address they use for other Rotary functions, such as their My Rotary account, will receive Rotary giving credit and recognition.

Minimizing fees to do more good
External fundraising platforms have their own fee structures, rules, and guidelines. By creating our own platform, more of the funds you’re raising go directly toward Doing Good in the World.

With Raise for Rotary, you can tie your fundraiser to an event such as a birthday or athletic endeavor, or you can create a custom occasion. No matter how you choose to fundraise, the donations you generate help us make an even bigger impact around the world.

Thank you for your support. If you have additional questions, review our Raise for Rotary FAQ or email us at raise@rotary.org

Sincerely,
The Rotary Foundation
