It was an enthusiastic and vocal group who attended last week’s Club Assembly. The meeting began with a message of inspiration and gratitude from Past President and Sergeant-at-Arms Kris Cacciotti. Our Secretary/Treasurer Barb Roy then gave a comprehensive report on two of the Club’s major fundraisers – Vive le Vin and Mission 31. First, Barb walked Sunrisers through the Vive Le Vin financial statement and highlighted profits of over $43,000!!!!! This was the most successful event since Vive le Vin began several years ago (pre-COVID). Kudo’s to the 2023 Organizing Committee, led by Sunriser Julie DeSimone and all Sunrisers who sold tickets, found sponsors and donations and attended. Barb also shared financial results of our Mission 31 campaign, which includes funds raised by organizations, staff and volunteers who served food at the Mission during the month of December, but also donations during our fundraising event at Chris Independent Grocers and matching funds from Day Group. This year, Mission 31 raised an amazing $90,000 for the Elgin St. Mission. While this total included an anonymous donation of $25,000, it is a true testament to how Sunrisers, in collaboration with our community partners, are improving the lives of individuals in the Sudbury region. Service Above Self! Both financial statements and the Executive Minutes will be distributed at a later date. |
