In case you missed it, at last week’s meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from Sara Cunningham, Sudbury's new Chief of Police. As the first locally raised Chief since Alex McAuley (~25 years ago), and with 27 years of service in Sudbury, she brings a deep understanding of our community's strengths and challenges.
Chief Cunningham highlighted the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team, a new initiative pairing officers with clinicians to provide real-time care, aiming to reduce emergency room visits and offer immediate support to those in crisis.
She also shared a personal milestone - her hockey team's induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame as the first female team to win a provincial championship. It's inspiring to see how far girls' hockey has come since then.
Chief Cunningham's leadership marks a promising chapter for our city
